Description

TYPE “A” Inlet / Catch Basin – Catch Basin grated water inlet structures are engineered and manufactured in a variety of sizes to meet all state and local standards. Catch Basin components such as grates, knock-outs or block-outs can be customized as needed.

A catch basin is a grated water inlet structure consisting of a below ground precast concrete box that is topped with a grate at ground level.  Our precast catch basins include the base, optional riser, and top sections as well as pipe knock-outs or block-out openings.  Catch basins allow storm water to enter a storm sewer from streets, sidewalks, or parking lots.  Grate openings are used to prevent litter and large sediments from entering the storm pipe system.

During a Rain event, storm water drains from the surface area into the grate openings of the Catch Basin. The water then drains from the catch basin into a connected sewer pipe. The sewer piping uses gravity feed to move the water through the system of pipes. Multiple catch basins can be linked with pipe to create a network of drainage points.

Catch basins are commonly used on roadways maintained by municipalities but are also used in commercial parking lots and very occasionally on residential properties.  They require regular but infrequent cleaning, but otherwise are generally maintenance free.

Catch basins are engineered and manufactured in a wide range of sizes to meet all state and local standards and are a fast, effective and cost-efficient way to save time and money on your next project.

Applications:

– Storm water management

– Roadways

– Parking lots

– Pedestrian paths
